Edition: Comment on original DAC catalog card: “Second state…. Referred to in Delteil cat. as one described by Lebrun which mentions one more Mr. Heyman (Millet’s son-in-law) had never seen. The signature of Delâtre and his comment that it is unique would explain why they had never seen it. This print has been in this country for over 20 years and probably over 30. - GWD.”
Marks: Unsigned. Inscribed in pencil beneath plate, lower left: “Ep: unique après l'effacage du ciel / Aug. Delâtre / 2e état effacé—unique”; this pencil inscription in the margin is mentioned by A. Lebrun, p. 29 (H.S.).
